You can also cancel your automatic renewal at any time. Cancelling the automatic renewal does not cancel your current membership — you will remain a member until your existing membership period expires.

Important Membership Notes
A few quick points to help avoid confusion and keep costs down.
Paying by card – automatic renewal
Memberships paid by card through Stripe are set to renew automatically each year.
If you are already a member, please check your automatic renewal before making another payment. If automatic renewal is active, you do not need to use the Join / Renew button again. Your membership payment will be collected automatically when it is due.
From your profile you can see whether automatic renewal is active, your next renewal date, and manage or cancel your automatic renewal.
Cancelling your automatic renewal does not cancel your current membership. Your membership will continue as normal until its existing expiry date; cancelling simply prevents the next automatic payment from being taken.

Membership commences on 1st September and runs for one year. Anyone joining on or after 1st June will automatically be enrolled for the current membership year and the following year.
Automatic card renewals are different. If you have an existing Stripe subscription, your annual payment will normally be taken on the anniversary of the date you originally subscribed, rather than on 1st September. The 1st September membership-year date does not change the payment date of an existing automatic renewal.
Individuals only
We only accept membership from individuals; applications from societies or organisations cannot be accepted. Memberships are non-transferable.
Standing orders & cancellations
If you cancel your membership, please remember to cancel your standing order with your bank. Payments received after membership has lapsed — where we no longer hold contact details — cannot be refunded and will be treated as a donation unless we are advised otherwise.
Journal delivery for new members
New members, irrespective of membership type, will initially receive e-journal access. If you join in time for the next printed issue, this will be posted to you; otherwise you will receive the printed journal from the following quarter. This helps reduce printing and postage costs and keeps subscriptions affordable.
